Biobränsle

The need to reduce negative environmental impacts from production and consumption of energy is now globally acknowledged. Biofuels and other sources of renewable energy are means to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase energy security.

For over 30 years Ramboll has contributed to the development of renewable energy technologies. We have worked on numerous biomass, biogas, waste-to-energy, wind energy, solar thermal energy, geothermal energy and wave power projects.

The largest biogas plant in the world

We are currently involved in the planning and procurement of the world’s largest biogas plant, located in Måbjerg, Denmark. The £40 million plant will process 500,000 tonnes of different biomass sources and generate 18-20 million m3 biogas annually, which will be exported to adjacent users or used in the facility’s own biogas engine.

Waste to clean energy

Waste-derived bio energy not only helps reduce global warming, but it is also a technically, economically and environmentally viable waste management option. Ramboll has a long track record of successfully planned and completed waste-to-energy facilities. In total, we have been or are involved in the procurement of over 40 new installations. These installations have a combined operational capacity of over 4.7 million tonnes per year. At present we’re involved in 25 ongoing thermal treatment projects in 16 countries worldwide.
