Ramboll specialises in energy consultancy. We have experts in climate change and we understand the impact free market forces can have on various kinds of facilities that generate renewable energy. We have experience of a broad range of international energy projects.

We understand that when it comes down to the technical, economic, political and environmental aspects of energy production, different countries require different solutions. We have experience of the entire energy infrastructure from planning, laying strategies and running studies to procurement, design, maintenance and management.Ramboll's energy consultants have diverse, but complementary backgrounds. Our specialists include engineers, economists, sociologists and political scientists – and all of them are essential in the quest to develop renewable energy resources.

Renewables

Ramboll advises on all aspects of renewable energy projects – from energy policy and implementation to design and operation. We deal with large renewable energy projects that generate electricity for the power grid and heat to district heating grids. These projects include energy sources such as wind energy, biogas Combined Heat and Power (biomass CHP), biomass boilers, large-scale solar thermal energy, wave energy and geothermal energy. Most recently, we have specialised in the planning and implementation of large-scale wind farms, both onshore and offshore.

Waste-to-energy

We are the leading global waste-to-energy consultancy. Over the past 30 years we have been involved in the planning, procurement and commissioning of more than 40 waste-to-energy plants – mainly CHP plants – as well as some 20 upgrades and extensions, and numerous studies around the world.

Ramboll provides consultancy in the planning, procurement and commissioning stages of numerous small- and medium-scale decentralized CHP plants. These are fuelled by natural gas and biomass. We also consultant on the design, commissioning and, where necessary, retrofitting of large-scale CHP plants.

District heating and cooling

Ramboll is one of the leading international consultants on community heating and cooling. Our services include legal and institutional issues, planning, design, procurement, operation maintenance and the management of city-wide heating systems. We have worked on projects in more than 25 countries including the EU, Central, Southern and Eastern Europe, Russia and China. Recently, we entered the growing market for district cooling services.

Oil and gas

Ramboll is a major player in the development of oil and gas activities in Denmark. Our expertise is based on more than 30 years experience working in the hostile conditions of the North Sea, and other demanding environments such as Arctic Greenland and the Persian Gulf.
